Yep, I've finally got there, my moth-demon is finished, a fine blend of hunted
gorgon medusa (Caravaggio), and this mind-blowing crazy macro moth, the
wonderful work of Vasily Menshov that was a great inspiration to me…
(Check out his macro-insect photography on Google !!!!)

autumn blues? nah, not me, November is definitely my favorite month of the year, and nature's most beautiful colors... so feeling inspired, and while my mothdemon is drying it's paint, I'm sneaking to the next thing (as if I don't have enough half-started blank heads already).......

Oooh spooky, my demon-moth is definitely in progress. Of course I changed the eyes few seconds after I took this picture, just cause I'm a change freak, no other logical reason for it. Now I have to fix it and move on to finishing the legs and arms. (As you can see on the left corner, my little girl also got the moth fever…)

stone pile...

back to open mouth and teeth she initially had, somehow it didn't work first, and now it does…
I also made the eyes smaller; I didn't like the cartoonish look she had before… (still have some work to do on her face)...
The colors are with Photoshop, I am checking color possibilities for her…not sure yet...

Changed much since I've started but not quite there yet…

This one is how to say…experimental ??? only few parts sculpted and the rest
is back to my old love of textiles, dyes, stitching, and we'll see what comes out
of this, haven't done this kind of work for quite a while and I miss it...

waiting...

Some dolls just don't want to be finished !!! They just like to stay bits and pieces floating over tables and shelves. Limbs and torsos, unattached, uncommitted, ever changing in all their glorious unfulfilled potential….
- "Let me at least fix your eye, so you can look more human"…
- "but I'm not human"…
- "OK… so let me make you a bit more symmetrical?"…
- "no thanks, symmetry is boring!!!"
… Oh well, I guess this one will take some more time......

limhwa half elf with sculpted body. sketch...

I think I can finally admit that what I like most about my doll collection is
stripping them from old faceup, sketch on them with graphite, than play with
Photoshop. Playing with possibilities and committing to none.

After that my dolls will gaze at me from their closet and it will be quite a
while till I'll actually do something with them, changing my mind another
million times probably.

And so, my closet and shelves slowly being filled with graphite heads, half
modded heads, sculpted limbs and torsos, experimental eyes, and they all
resting there with this promise of what they could have been. I just love to
look at them thinking…"yes, one day I will finish you, one day I will have
the time"… but to be honest with myself, the dolls that I did finish tend to
bore me after a while, I just love my unfinished dolls.

concept...

A quick Photoshop concept for this girl. My bunny geisha bust.

I've started her back in 2013, lots of time has passed and I am trying
to get back and finish her. I know what I want but not quite sure how
to get there. Right now she has a pinkish skin tone but I'm thinking
going gray skin, this means I would have to redo the paint and faceup
job. I have to think about it a little bit more. But I really like her
dragonish look in this image, and gray would definitely be the right
choice for this, we'll see ^^

WIP - may 2014

Working on a new head. The body is getting its final shape too. The
first head I was working on turned out to be too big for this body…

This stage is all about rough surfaces, sketching lines and lots of mess.
Endless adding and subtracting. I am searching for the right expression,
not sure yet about the eye shape, the ear placement, and her character
is not quite clear, I don't know if she'll be a sexy Lolita bunny,a cyborg
kinky rabbit, or maybe I will focus more on facial expression and body
painting…

right now all I know she is a bunny, the body is a torso with no limbs,
and that she is quite moody, so I am still playing ^_^
